Labscope 3.0 & Axiolab 5 encoded reflector turret
Labscope doesn't recognize the coded reflector turret, are there any instructions on how to configure the Axiolab 5 in Labscope 3 on a PC?
Labscope 3.0 & Axiolab 5 encoded reflector turret
Dear Anja,
did you check if the stand is connected to AxioCam (202 or 208) directly (see attachment) ?
This cable is simultaneously the Current and Data connection.
The camera should automatically recognized in Labscope.
The coded reflector positions should also be recognizable in the settings.
If the problem persists, please tell us how the system is configured and send us screenshots of what is shown in the Labscope software.
With best regards

Two different configurations were tested:
1- Camera powered through stand, and USB3 connected to the PC from the camera,
2- Camera power independently, both Axiolab and camera one separate connection to the PC.
ZEN blue is installed as well on the computer. When connected as in 2, the MTB can see both the camera and the stand.
Firmware of the stand was updated to the latest version.
I don’t have a screenshot of lab scope, but you have to manually select the objective used, the coding is not recognized at all.

Dear Anja,
the recognition of the reflector cubes and objectives are only work if you connect the camera via Ethernet cable.
This will not work via USB cable.

I'm not sure I understand, according to the manual (p. 47) you get coded components functionality when connecting the camera via USB (see attached screenshot). This is the exact configuration the customer has tried and the objectives have to be manually selected.

Dear Anja,
you are right. It should work according to the manual.
We were able to reproduce this problem.
Our 3rd Level support will now have a look to this.
We will come back to you if we have some news.

Labscope 3.0 & Axiolab 5 encoded reflector turret
Dear Anja,
after consulting the development department, I have the following answer for you:
With USB connection the camera is a “dumb camera” without encoding/smartness support.
Only with network connection Labscope can get encoding information and control the stand (e.g. illumination).
The descriptions in the Axiolab 5 manual has to be updated.

Right, I would now also wonder what the proper Ethernet configuration is:
- camera powered through the Axiolab stand (I assume), since this connection will then also transfer data about the encoded components to the camera
- camera connected via Ethernet to a router or directly to a PC (would the direct Ethernet to PC connection work?) which then lets Labscope 3.0 see the encoded components?

The right connection configuration is:
- stand Axiolab to power source
- camera to stand Axiolab (power and data connection)
- camera to router (ethernet cable)
- router to Desktop (ethernet cable) or router to iPad (Wlan)
Direct connection between camera and PC is not possible.
