Labscope for iOS with AC 208 & drawing functionality

Post by user-6889 »

Hi support team,

One of our customers has an AC 208 on a Stemi and wants to use Labscope on an iPad.
The AC is connected via Ethernet to a router.
They then connected the iPad to the Wifi of the router.
The AC 208 did not automatically show up in Labscope (they downloaded the most recent version, that is currently on the App Store).
The only way to get the camera connected was to look up the IP address of the camera (via a monitor and the OSD) and manually add a microscope where they entered the IP and then the camera was seen. Is this normal procedure?

The other question is that they cannot find the drawing functionality in this Labscope version (the one where you point the camera of the iPad at e.g. a piece of paper and can then draw and see that on your screen), is this still available? Is there any documentation for Labscope for iPads?
They also tried to download Labscope Materials but couldn't find the drawing functionality in there either.

Thanks,

Anja

Hi Anja,
I personally did not have any issues conecting an AC208 with Labscope.
Drawing functionality is avaliable in Labscope's Education Module. It also activates the Pointer Function.

Dear Anja,

the procedure that you described is not normal.
The AxioCam 208 should be automatically detected from Labscope.

It is important that are the camera and the iPad in the same IP area.
You can try to assign fixed IP addresses for the camera and the iPad.

I will check about the static IPs.

Regarding the drawing functionality, this used to be available in the iOS version of Labscope, see attached image "Drawing Tube mode (transparent overlay)". Is this still available in the new iOS version? And if so then where can this be found?

Yes, you can activate the "transparency" mode in the new Labscope version.

1. activate education module
2 Click on the down arrows in the lower right corner
3.Click on the pencil in the bottom bar for activation of the "transparency" mode

Thank you for the instructions for transparency mode!

I saw that only iPad Air 2 or above supports the Axiocam 202/208. Attached is the version of IPad the customer is using. I would assume that 7th Gen is compatible, but just wanted to make sure.

The iPad 7th Gen is compatible with Labscope 3
Here you can see the requirements.

Thank you, the customer is running 13.3.1 so that should work.
Now unfortunately I'm unable to test this, would it be possible that you provide a screenshot of what the App should look like when you have an Axiocam 208 connected. The initial screen the customer should see when they first open the app without having configured any microscope.

We're unable to see the AC 208 and while we can try to set static IPs, it would be good to see what it should look like, without setting a static IP and the AC being recognized.
Also are there any other trouble shooting steps we can take? If the iPad is compatible, what could be another reason why we aren't seeing the AC208 automatically?

Thank you.

Dear Anja,

please see attachment for the screenshot of the starting screen with 3 connected cameras/microscopes.

Troubleshooting is very difficult. Maybe there is a problem with the WiFi.
Try to connect a desktop PC with Labscope via cable to the network of the camera.

Tha Labscope app can only find a camera in the same "subnet". The subnet here means the mask is 255.255.255.255.
For instance, the IP of iPad is 192.168.1.20. Then the subnet is 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.255.
If the the camera has a IP address in this area, then it should be detected automatically from the Labscope app
It is possible to add the camera from another area, but this have to be done with the feature "Manual Add Microscope".

Thank you for the details, the information on the subnet is very helpful!
I could not see the screenshot, could you attach it again as a file?
