ZEISS is again preferred supplier for the initiative "STOP TB"
ZEISS has now been appointed for the second time as a preferred supplier for the initiative “STOP TB” aimed at fighting tuberculosis.
More than two billion people, equal to a quarter of the world’s population, are infected with tuberculosis. Tuberculosis microscopy can improve case detection and help to fight against this disease.
The Initiative of the United Nations Office for Project Services, or UNOPS in short, signed the agreement for the next three years. Apart from ZEISS, the ZEISS distribution partner, the Netherlands-based company Svizera, is the principal supplier of ZEISS Primo Star iLED to the UNOPS program. In addition to the tuberculosis microscopy products themselves, our partner offers the most important consummables such as fluorescent dyes,” explains José Novoa, Head of Global Distribution Partners at ZEISS Microscopy. “We are proud of this nomination and that we can support the UNOPS in combating tuberculosis.”
Continuing a tradition started by Robert Koch: Research tuberculosis with a microscope from ZEISS
ZEISS Primo Star iLED is the flexible solution for tuberculosis microscopy test applications with LED fluorescence excitation and transmitted-light brightfield illumination. The microscope is the result of a cooperation between ZEISS and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND). As a customer from one of the countries most heavily affected by tuberculosis, ZEISS Primo Star iLED is available at a particularly low price.
In this video tutorial Dr Harald Hoffmann, MD and head of the WHO-certified supranational reference laboratory IML in Gauting, Germany, demonstrates how to stain smear preparations for diagnosis of tuberculosis with fluorescence microscopy and ZEISS Primo Star iLED:
