File name restrictions

Post by user-5636 »

Hello,

we are using ZeissimageLib.dll.However it is seen that the file name size is restricted to 260 characters. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks,

using ZeissimageLib.dll ... file name size is restricted to 260 characters
Hello Gurunath,

I am not sure but there might be some fundamental misunderstanding.

FIRST ASPECT

If you need ‘more than 260 chars’ in the filename, you might intend to write a CZI file via ZeissImageLib.
This case would be no legal action, as everyone who uses the ZeissImageLib has to register and the contract of the registration process clearly says that writing CZI files is prohibited.

SECOND ASPECT

ZEN blue and thus the ZeissImageLib is written in .Net where filenames are limited to MAX_PATH. Therefore every user of .Net is fixed to the following restrictions:
“The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters”

Personally, I would not recommend it, but if you want to use more chars please have a look at the contributions in the internet. Maybe a strategy with ‘rename’ is possible.
