Many customers and salespersons are requesting a polarizer set and/or diffusers. HDR does not seem to be suited/functional for all applications/samples which have glare(specular reflection). In addition on samples with coatings on surfaces the glare can not be handled by HDR method...only polarizer set will remove this type of glare to see the surface below.

The polarizer is a prio 1 feature for the upcoming Smartzoom generation. It will be available with the next hardware generation, means it is no short-term feature.

We tried once with the diffuser of our cold light sources (sorry, German):

Diffusor 1500
für isotropes Auflicht zum reflexfreien Beleuchten von konturierten und spiegelnden Proben, z.B. polierten Kugeln

Diffusor S, ausziehbar, d=66 mm/M8
inkl. Lichtleiter 8/1000 mm; Länge 45...84 mm an mittlere FWD anpassbar
oder bei großer FWD objektnahe Montage über Halter M8-M8 435507-0000-000

When not using the workflow and performing a manual white balance, one can get good results. Of course, the illumination type is not part of SW controls and hence not in the workflow.

I once used the neon ringlight, Illumination device for the Stemi microscopes. It reduces reflections. Problems: to fix it on the objectiv and the white balance of the camera has to be chanced
