We have just released an update for Matscope on the App Store:

Detailed list of changes since version 1.0.2:

  • Fully iOS 8 compatible
  • Added grain size measurements according to ASTM E112, ISO 643, GB 6394-2002 standards (requires a Primotech microscope with advanced network adapter)
  • Added 4-point / disconnected angle measurements (requires a network adapter)
  • Added support for snapping macro images with scaling information with the iPad's built-in camera (requires a network adapter)
  • Added "Login" button in the Live tab for traceability - the login name is stored in the metadata of the images
  • Added drawing tube function
  • Easier shared folder configuration - computer names are now shown in addition to the IP addresses while searching for file servers
  • Added thickness and color setting for graticule overlays
  • Added Feret ratio in particle / porosity measurements table
  • Any kind of file can now be shared with other Apps or via AirDrop
  • Added defining ROI and crop area with specific size (e.g. 100 x 100 µm square area)
  • ROI and crop areas are now saved and recalled on next use
  • ROI can now be removed
  • Added (optionally) color-coded IDs to measurement labels, to create a visual link between measurement tables in reports, and the corresponding measurements in the image
  • Added automatic unit selection dependent on microscope type (compound or stereo) - override is possible in App settings
  • Added support for entering microscopy/measurement-specific characters when creating a report
  • "Stay in live tab after snapping" option is no longer a "Shortcut", instead it is now a first level option in the App settings, and can be used without a network adapter
  • Improved placement of measurement labels
  • Improvements for report generation function
  • Improvements for server discovery during shared folder configuration
  • Various other minor improvements and changes
